Wire & Cable India 2008 Report
Neither the testing conditions in the temporary exhibition marquees nor the global economic slowdown that is even affecting the dynamic Indian economy dampened the enthusiasm of the sub continent’s industry and trade visitors for this major exhibition in Mumbai in November 2008.
Running from 20-22 November 2008 the event was sponsored for the first time by the IWMA who also exhibited on an information booth, manned by Executive Board members John Stanaway and Peter Large and the IWMA’s representative in India Jeroo Vandrevala. The event proved to be very worthwhile for the IWMA in two main respects: the quality and volume of enquiries (which included new members signed up on the stand and which exceeded prior expectations) and the opportunity to meet with some of the industry’s main players to discuss future involvement in the Indian arena.

Wire & Cable India proved a great success for IWMA
Traffic on the booth was brisk at most times and many senior people from the industry, not only in India but also from other regions of the world, notably the Middle East, visited the IWMA. As a result of contacts made during the exhibition the IWMA secured nearly 130 enquiries including several firm membership applications. In the view of the IWMA’s John Stanaway the exhibition was “a most worthwhile exercise” which the association is likely to repeat in 2010.
