IWMA Supports Second MetalTech in Sao Paulo, Brazil

In October  the IWMA participated in the second Metaltech exhibition, again as international supporter of this event for the ferrous and non-ferrous wire sector.  Metaltech was introduced to the existing Tubotech tube and pipe exhibition in 2005 and in addition to the IWMA has the local support of the Brazilian steel wire association SICETEL and its sister non-ferrous organisation SINDECEL.

Nearly thirty exhibitors were present at Metaltech in addition to the IWMA, which shared a booth with the International Tube Association (ITA).  The ITA has been the international sponsor of Tubotech for the 2004, 2005 and 2007 exhibitions.  Both the IWMA and ITA appreciate the growing importance of the Brazilian market and its excellent potential for the associations’ members.

The IWMA has no doubt that South America in general and Brazil in particular, offer good opportunities for membership development.  At the same time it is important that the IWMA offers support and advice for its existing members interested in the gateway to these markets provided by the Metaltech event.

There is no question that the Brazilian market presents potential suppliers with a number of hurdles to overcome to succeed but those with special or niche technology in particular should be able to develop in the region.  The next Metaltech, to be held again in conjunction with Tubotech, is scheduled to take place 6-8 October 2009 at the Imigrantes exhibition centre in Sao Paulo.
