Co-organisers of Istanbul Cable & Wire 09 Announce Sponsorship Opportunities
The next joint technical conference from the WAI, ACIMAF, CET and the IWMA will take place at the WOW Hotel and Convention Center in Istanbul 2-3 November 2009. A high level technical programme will be offered to an expected 200 plus international and local audience. Previous collaborations between the associations have provided both speakers and delegates with excellent networking and sales opportunities.
The organisers are offering a number of items for sponsorship at the conference, some of which have already been reserved by various organisations. To see the sponsorship opportunities available and to download a booking form please click here.
It has been decided that the next major biennial conference jointly organised by the WAI, ACIMAF and the IWMA will take place in Istanbul with a provisional date of 2 November 2009. Since 2003 these three key wire and cable associations have successfully collaborated in organising high quality conferences in Stresa, Prague and Bologna.
In preliminary discussions with leading organisations in the Turkish industry there has been an enthusiastic welcome for the choice of Istanbul. Its geographical location, with a foot in both Europe and Asia and ease of travelling to and from makes Istanbul ideal to attract potential delegates from Europe, the CIS and former Soviet Union republics, the Arab States and the Middle East, India and Africa. It is expected that the conference will be conducted in Turkish and English and possibly Russian.
There are important and developing industries in the wire and cable sectors, which should result in a healthy local attendance, notwithstanding the anticipated high level of interest from other countries in the region. The growth rate in the Turkish economy was approaching 10% last year and industry data indicates that exports by Turkish companies increased significantly in 2007. The market potential for prospective speakers and tabletop exhibitors will be excellent.
There are excellent prospects for local sponsorship and support, in particular from the enormous Ihlas Group with its extensive media resources, including the trade magazine BORU. Its daughter company Ihlas Fuar is the organiser of the BORU tube exhibition and has offered its full support for the wire conference. The International Tube Association is hoping to arrange a concurrent tube conference, similar to the joint events held in Prague in 2005.
Local costs in Istanbul are competitive with other major European cities and good quality hotel accommodation is certainly better value than in many other major cities. The city of Istanbul itself is an attractive venue to visit with ample opportunities for sightseeing tours.
