IWMA 2008 Golf Day Attracts Nearly Fifty Member Representatives and Guests
The IWMA annual golf day took place at the challenging Fairhaven course in Lytham St Annes in the UK on 11 June. Despite the forecasts the weather, whilst windy, stayed dry and the field of 47 players enjoyed an excellent day’s sport.
Steve Ellis of B3 Cables, an invitee of Maurice Hill, won the IWMA Guest Shield with a Stableford score of 36 points, whilst Ian Wood of Bridon won the IWMA Chairman’s Cup for the best score by a member with 34 points. Winners of the “Longest Drive” and “Nearest the Pin” respectively were John Grehan of Leoni Temco and Paul Smith of Yorkshire Copper Tubes.
“Chairman of Golf” Don Tucker delighted all participants with his customary fund of jokes during the after dinner prize-giving ceremony. This popular golf day is provisionally scheduled to take place again in 2009 on Wednesday 10 June. This year’s winners, as well as second and third placed players in both categories, received an impressive range of prizes generously donated by the following companies to whom the IWMA extends its grateful thanks:
